This piece of work is basically a life lesson.

In July 2015 I got a bit excited while skiing, and shortly after landing a flip successfully, I was in hospital with 1x broken collarbone and 4x broken ribs. And a year (and two surgeries) later I made a ring out of the metal plate that once held my collarbone together. Cool story. At least the internet thought so.

Within hours of posting the project online it had over half a million views, and was picked up by dozens of newspapers and design magazines from around the world. Imgur named it day's most viewed image on the internet, and the pinnacle of New Zealand journalism (Seven Sharp) even did an embarrassing story on it.

I have no idea why the producer put my laundry in the background.

Using the project's online fame I became a minor celebrity in the “jewelry from surgical metal” community.
